Blog Post: Make career connections at ASU’s “spooktacular” Homecoming celebration

posted Thursday, October 29, 2009 8:47 AM

There’s more to building your career network than attending mixers and meeting new people. Rekindle the connections you had in college and you may find new job leads, sources of hot new talent, and information that will help you out-innovate or out-perform the competition!

Arizona State University will celebrate Homecoming on Oct. 31, when it plays the California Golden Bears in game that kicks off at 12:30 p.m. local time. Before the football game begins, the university’s Tempe campus will be packed with thousands of Sun Devils checking out what’s new with their college, school, favorite student group or just enjoying the parade and Block Party that precede the game.

If you’re looking for a place to reconnect with your ASU “peeps,” your first stop should be ASU Alumni Association’s Block Party area, which will be located around the fountain in front of Old Main. The association will feature a number of different things to do:

  • Alums with children can visit our pumpkin patch, hosted by Sun Devil Generations, where kids can decorate their own paper pumpkin!
  • Members of the Alumni Association can spend quality time with other alums in our Maroon and Gold Lounge. We have a gift for members who show us their membership card.
  • Inside the lounge, Sun Devils under 35 can learn more about our new Arizona State Young Alumni program, which offers social, networking and community service opportunities for recent graduates.
  • When you’re ready from a break from all the meeting and greeting, there will be a performance by the local LIGHT entertainment troupe on a sound stage.

For details on all the Homecoming events sponsored by the Alumni Association, visit http://www.asu.edu/alumni/homecoming/index.html.

P.S. If you’re close to Tempe on Friday night, don’t miss one of ASU’s oldest Homecoming traditions, the Lantern Walk. Climb “A” Mountain by candlelight!
