Blog Post: Can Lean Processes Help Your Workplace?
posted Wednesday, October 21, 2009 9:44 PM
According to Performance Digest, businesses need to encourage information sharing at all levels. From their article, I learned:
-- You can grow, or you can be comfortable – but you cannot do both at the same time. -- Your organization must have your subject matter experts (SMEs) sharing information and not hiding "on their own turf". This is a survival strategy. When the SMEs are focused on improving work procedures and practices, there is a natural tendency to become more "Lean" and effective in the workplace. This is just one benefit of Change Management as well as Lean Manufacturing and presents three levels for deploying “change” through Lean. I recently read "The Lean Pathfinder", a booklet written for food processors but is applicable to all industries. In his book, Dr. Glen Miller provides clear, well-described examples and case studies of Lean process improvement. For more information contact Glen Miller, at www.Performance Essentials.com.
