posted Tuesday, October 20, 2009 7:52 PM
A great way to build a new network, acquire skills, and discover a new industry is to volunteer. Volunteer opportunities come in a variety of fashions. These opportunities allow you to use your talents and skills in perhaps a different arena than you have previously thereby expanding the experience that can be highlighted on a resume or discussed in an interview.
The American Lung Association is currently seeking volunteers to help us save lives while improving lung health and preventing lung disease. We are looking for candidates interested in helping with basic office management on a consistent basis. This work includes data entry, answering phones, processing donations, making phone calls and basic filing and copying. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A schedule can be set anytime between these hours according to what works for your schedule. In addition, there are opportunities to get involved in the following ways: · Special Event Committees: recruit sponsors and participants, plan and prepare event logistics, assist with marketing and communications. · Represent the American Lung Association at community health and wellness events. Disseminate information and educate the public on American Lung Association mission and programs. · Deliver educational courses regarding asthma, air quality, tobacco control and COPD to children, school personnel, medical professionals and the general public. Many more opportunities exist! We will match your interests and talents to the opportunities we have to keep our mission thriving in Arizona. 602-258-7505
